About Peter Reinartz
Peter Reinartz is a Master of Business Engineering of the Brussels University (1984) and a Master of Business Administration of the Louvain University (1991). He started his professional career in 1985 and has held executive management positions in various international groups such as Philips, UPC and Orange, with focus on telecom, IT, infrastructure and “multi-play” services (fixed & mobile telephony, broadband, pay-tv, apps & subscription services).
Peter has lived and worked in Kenya since 2008, as MD of corporates such as Telkom Kenya (a.o. launching the Orange mobile network), Wananchi Group (launching the Zuku triple play sevice) and Eaton Towers Kenya.
Around 2015 he decided to leave the corporate world behind and started focusing on impact start-ups, through his management company Balozi Services, which actively supports young East-African entrepreneurs with starting their business.
As (co)founder, investor, chairman, MD/CEO or director, he has been or still is directly involved in a number of impact start-ups such as dukamili (micro-retail), Elewa (edtech), iTalanta (IT offshoring), Jaza Pengo (employment), Lima Kwanza (agritech), Mlo Kwanza (micro-retail) and GeneTrans (healthtech).
In Kenya Peter has been on the boards of Kenya Postel Directories, TEAMS (submarine cable system) and Azuri Technologies (solar pay-as-you-go). He is a non-executive director at Compulynx (IT integration) since 2016.
Peter is a Belgian national with permanent residence status in Kenya. He is fluent in Dutch (mother tongue), French, English and German and has basic knowledge of Spanish and Kiswahili
